Truth: I love to read.
Also truth: I struggle to read.
I follow quite a few Bookstagram and BookTube accounts, and these people go nuts in the reading department. Like I’m talking over 4-5 books each month. I apply myself to a much lower standard, like 1-2 books per month. I was doing pretty good in April and May, where I read two books each month. But then June came and went, and I did not finish a single book.
I’m about halfway through Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and I’m on chapter two of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I’m in a horrible rut where I want to read, and I’m excited to read the books on my tbr, but I can’t bring myself to actually sit down and open one.
My strong desire to read but inability to actually take the time to do it is a contributing factor to my suspicion that I have ADD – but that’s a story for another time.
As I’m writing this, James and I are getting ready for a Vegas vacay, and I’m hoping to get a lot of reading done while I relax, but we’ll see. I’m bringing a whole arsenal though, just in case our flights get delayed.
If ANYONE has ANY tips on how to get oneself to open up and finish a book, hit me up PLEASE. I am STRUGGLING and DESPERATE to fix myself.
What do you do to get yourself out of a reading slump?
Let me know!
