My Top Goals for the Next 10 Years

Hello all.

Since I’ve gotten a new job, I’ve changed, or more so solidified, my plans and goals for the next ten years. I’m going to share them in this post and continue to post updates.

Goal #1: James is Full Time

The absolute biggest grievance in our lives right now is the fact that James does not have a full-time job. We are still able to survive, but we would be so much more comfortable if James had guaranteed, consistent hours.  However, by the time this posts, he may have a full time job!  I’ll keep y’all posted. J

Goal #2: Move

We are getting the fudge-nut out of here.  James and I just aren’t satisfied with our current apartment anymore.  It’s small.  Yes, it’s a two bedroom and there is only two of us, but I’m just ready for something more adult.  This apartment was a great starter apartment.  I’ve really learned how to be an independent, grown adult here.  I feel like I’m passed that young-adult stage where I have no idea what I’m doing, even though I’m only 21.  Right now, I’m thinking, hoping, and praying that this next apartment is our last.  We already have one picked out that we really like.  It’s like twice the size of our apartment now.  It has two walk-in closets, two linen closets, a massive living and dining space, and a bigger kitchen.  I’m very excited.  Unfortunately, we’re not planning to move until sometime in March or April, so we have a way to go.  We’re waiting until the spring because we want to buy new furniture and just have it delivered right to our new place, and you need money for all that, so we’re waiting.

Goal #3: Promotion

My third goal is to move up the ladder to a new position within a year of being in my current position. I started my job in April, so that sets my goal for a promotion sometime around April 2020.  There are two positions I would be applicable for:  Resident Director or Assistant Property Manager. I’m open to move to a different property, so that’s not really an issue.  I’m praying that I’m ready to move forward and there is a position available come next April.  As for my current position, I’m planning on staying at the property I’m at for at least six months, and if another leasing consultant position opens up for a different property I’m interested in, I’m more than willing to switch properties, but we’ll see.

Goal #4: Marriage

Ideally, I’d like to get married before I’m 25, so I guess you can say that’s my goal.  I think our only issue with getting married is money. But, once James is full-time and we get all of our ducks in a row, hopefully we can be engaged by the end of 2020, or the beginning of 2021.  It really just all depends on money, so we’ll see what happens!

Goal #5: A House

My biggest goal for the next ten years is to own a home by the time I’m thirty.  My dream is to build my own home somewhere in Carmel or Fishers.  The idea of new construction sounds absolutely wonderful.  I don’t want to house-hop while we find our forever home over the course of ten years or so.  I want to build my dream home in the area I want and be done.  The only reason I’d move out of that house would be to move to the beach.

Final Goal #6: Kids

I know deep in my soul that I’m meant to be a mom.  I love babies and kids so so much.  When it comes to random people’s kids who have absolutely no manners or good behavior, then I run the other way.  But when it comes to good kids and my own family’s kids, I adore them.  The idea of having little humans who look like me and the loml, teaching them how to be good humans, and watching them morph into their own individuals sends me over the moon.  Being one of the babies on my mom’s side of the family means all of my cousins have been having babies and watching them parent makes me so jealous that I’m not at that stage of life yet.  And then, as I’m sure every kid does, I have different ways that I want to parent than how my parents raised me, and how I see other people raising their kids.  Right now, before I have any kids, I’d like to say we’ll have four or five.  I’ve always dreamed of having a big family, so I’m determined to make that happen. We’ll see how that actually turns out though.

Okay, that’s it! Those are my top 6 goals for the next ten or so years!  What is your number one goal for your future?

Much Love,

MCC
