Skincare Routine 2019

Hello everybody!

Another series I want to do on my blog site is beauty.  I’m a huge lover of makeup.  So for today I want to talk about my daily skincare routine!

First, let’s give a background on my skin.

I have uber baby sensitive skin.  I have to be careful with my skin care routine.  If I use something that is too harsh, I will almost instantly break out and my skin will turn red and so dry that it’s flaky.  I’m also very pale, so I typically use the lightest shade of foundation and concealer available to me.  Anyway, now that you have some background, let’s get into my daily skincare routine!

First thing in the morning is I wash my face; I use the regular Cetaphil cleanser (the one in the blue bottle).  I wet my face with warm water and use one pump of cleanser.  I rub the soap around my face and let it sit for a few seconds. Then, I rinse it off and dry my face.

Next, I moisturize.  I’ve tried so many different moisturizers throughout my life, but within the past year or so I’ve found a few that work.

Nutrogena Hydro Water Boost Gel is probably my favorite, but it runs for about $20.00 a jar.  With both James and I using it, I couldn’t get myself to spend that much money on a moisturizer every couple weeks. (Go ahead, tell me I’m cheap.)

Garnier’s SkinActive line is what I’ve been using most recently.  I originally bought the Soothing 3-in-1 moisturizer with rose water.  The scent is to die for (I love the smell of rose). The texture of the moisturizer is more like a balm.  It only runs about $10.00, and it comes in a decent sized jar too.  This jar lasted James and I FOREVER.  Like, I’m pretty sure it lasted us six months.  You can also use it as a mask too!

I bought the Garnier SkinActive 3-in-1 Hydrating Moisturizer with Aloe about a week ago, and I really like it too.  It also runs for about $10.00 a jar.  The texture of this moisturizer is exactly like the texture of the Nutrogena Hydro Water Boost Gel.  If it wasn’t for the aloe, I’d call it a dupe.  However, I’m not sure if I’m going to keep buying the aloe version because even though it’s only $10.00, it’s not going to last nearly as long at the rose version did.  The only way I’ll make the aloe my permanent daily moisturizer is if my acne magically disappears (stay tuned).

After I moisturize, I head to my bedroom and do my makeup.  You can see my makeup routine in a post coming soon!

If I’m not wearing any face makeup that day or it’s unbearably hot outside, I’ll spritz myself with a Mario Bedescu Facial Spray throughout the day.  I have a small bottle of the green cucumber and green tea version, and I also have a travel size version of the pink rosewater version. I think I prefer the rosewater version because it smells absolutely divine.

After a long day at work, I come home and almost immediately wipe the day’s makeup, dirt, and grime with a makeup removing wet wipe.  I have been recently using the massive packs you can buy at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for like $3.00 (for a pack of about sixty).  The pack I’ve been using – and am almost out of- include green tea in them.  I’m getting ready to try some with sea minerals.  However, I am a die-hard fan for the classic Nutrogena face wipes that come in the purplish-blue packaging.  I always take those wipes when I’m traveling, and I keep a stash by my bed in case I catch a case of I’m-too-tired-to-wash-my-face (tbh that happens at least once a week).

Once I take my makeup off with a wipe I hope in the shower.  I wash my face with the Yes To Coconut Energizing Coffee 2-in-1 Scrub and Cleanser Stick. Let me tell you – this thing is AMAZING. It has natural ingredients in it, gently exfoliates, smells amazing, AND comes in an easy-to-apply roll-up stick! This exfoliating cleanser is the bomb for sure.

After I shower and dry my face, I will either moisturize with the same moisturizer I use in the morning, or I will do I face mask first.  My favorite face masks are the Tony Moly face masks.  You can find them at Ulta.  My favorite ones are basically all of the purifying ones along with the moisturizing aloe and soothing oatmeal ones.

That’s pretty much it! I keep my skin care routine pretty simple.  If I didn’t my baby face would be a hot mess (I learned that in middle school).  ALSO PS make sure you clean your makeup brushes and bed sheets often!  It’s easy to spread acne and dirt through those.

Much Love,

MCC
